Hi Guys,
I was reading one of the other threads and I realized I may have something to contribute. Short of getting a serious musician to record your song, a lot of MIDI files sound flat, unemotional, and mechanical because the file doesn't have any expression or breath controllers. There is an easy free way to add them in. Check out the free Ntonyx Stylizer on the following website. It only has 8 performance styles, but you can liven up your compositions very easily using it.

If you buy the next product up, the Style-Enhancer for $39, you get over 100 different musician performance styles to choose from, and the ability to control each individual track. It has an expansion pack which raises the number up to 450 performance styles. I just counted and there are 23 categories (Brass, Reed, Strummed Guitar, piano, etc.) and around a dozen or more styles in each category. It's also set up to handle the PLG150-VL card voices, adding a Breath-Controller to the Velocity, Expression, and Modulation controllers for the track.
The next product up from that, the Onyx-Arranger, has all of the musician performance styles and adds a rather complicated arranger on top of the performance modeling. It figures out chords to match your melody and has a large collection of musical styles to choose from to add accompaniment to your piece. You can also create your own musical styles, based on other MIDI music in your library. Right now I'm working my way through the tutorials in the manual. It's a bit complicated, though.
Just my 2 bits worth.
