Hi folks. Thanks to John for approving my request to join. I'm a middle-aged guitarist in Lincoln, where I play in a 4-piece original hard rock band. My knowledge and use of MIDI over the years would be classified as rudimentary. I've dabbled in Sound Fonts (and the like), but mostly used it for control of various pieces of stage gear and the occasional home recording project. I own a Tascam TMD1000, which is an early (mid to late 90's?) "hybrid" mixer. I haven't recorded anything in years, but this mixer has worked well for me in the past, controlling my Fostex DMT8vl recorder, and Sonar (I think I have v3 still). I'll probably be digging back into that this summer (and likely upgrading at least the software), and will hopefully be more knowledgeable and fluid with it due the the informative tutorials here. My guitar rig includes the Line 6 Ax2 modeling amp (another piece of gear from the 90's that has served me very well for many years). It allows some basic MIDI program change control, and also some useful control of various other parameters via an expression pedal. As of now, my reason for being here is to gain a better understanding of this amplifier so as to fine-tune my ability to control it on the fly in a live setting.
My thanks to all who participate here. I'm looking forward to soaking up droves of knowledge, and figuring out how to apply it to my needs. Best regards!

Hi Maxx,
A warm welcome to the MIDI tutorials forum. I sincerely hope you can find some information that's useful to you here. But ... unfortunately, guitar pedals and the like are not an area I'm familiar with. But (again), it's never too late to learn. Kind regards, JohnG.

I could tell that things were more geared toward the "electronic" or "computer" musician here. But the tutorials are sound info, even if you may need to read between the lines a bit to correctly apply them to a different situation. I've really enjoyed them. If it helps, I'll do my best to keep an eye out here and there in case somebody else wanders in and needs similar advice. I'm hardly at expert level, but feel like I've connected the dots fairly well at this point. All I need is a bit more practical experience. In fact, if I'm not watching, any of the members her are welcome to PM me with any guitar oriented inquiries or any similar subject.
Thanks again!
